Why did my perfume stain my shirt?
Perfumes are made from essential oils in an alcohol base which can leave oily-looking spots on fabrics when sprayed directly on them. Apart from the alcohol and oil, some perfumes also contain dye, which can also leave a stain. Perfumes can stain both natural and synthetic fabrics.
Soak in a solution of 1 quart warm water, 1/2 teaspoon detergent and 1 tablespoon white vinegar for 15 minutes. Rinse with water. If stain remains, sponge with rubbing alcohol, rinse thoroughly and launder.
